This painting was inspired by some dark times in my life following the loss of my brother.

For a roughly 2-3 year period I wasn’t in a very good place mentally. I had a lot to work through. I learned that these moments in your life aren't permanent and with enough time and courage to get better, you can overcome the worst.

Despite the suffering, the crushing weight of the current moment, you can reach for the light of better days ahead. With every ounce of strength, do not give up, do not give in, especially when all seems lost. It is in your power and in your ability to be able to turn a terrible experience into something you can learn from and ultimately become a better person for having gone through it.
